What is the breakdown of the cost for these projects?

Our campaign goal is $4 million, which will fund the proposed Phase 2 renovations in their entirety and significantly reduce the Phase 1 debt incurred to restore our campus from the 2021 storm. Though construction costs exceeded insurance proceeds, UPUMC worked diligently to ensure we received every dollar due under the terms of our coverage. Our Facilities Task Force determined the cost to restore damaged areas to their former condition and determined that the incremental cost to transform them for our present and future needs were well justified. 

Major costs for the projects presented in this campaign guide are projected in the chart above. We continue to work with our architect GFF Design and contractor McCaslin-Hill to refine designs and evaluate construction costs in order to be good stewards of resources and reduce costs where we can.

How much did we spend on the Gathering Area & Youth Center?

Construction costs for Phase 1 (Gathering Area, including classrooms, welcome center, and parlor) were $1,300,000. Youth Ministry Center expenses were $1,100,000. Insurance and reserves contributed $770,000, with the remaining $1,630,000 financed.

How will campaign proceeds be used?

Proceeds from a successful Gather Together campaign will first be allocated to reducing Phase 1 construction debt by $1,150,000. The next $2,850,000 raised will fund the Phase 2 construction proposed in this campaign guide. 

Funds raised over and above our $4 million goal will retire the remaining Phase 1 debt and replenish reserves held by our Board of Trustees for the ongoing maintenance of our campus.
